The article analyzes sociological studies on the social integration of people with disabilities in direct connection with the rehabilitation process. It is shown that research, characterized by a practice-oriented orientation, contributes to the formation of the Russian and international system of legislation regulating rehabilitation activities based on the social model of disability. At the same time, the professional community gets the opportunity to interact with participants in the rehabilitation process using a single conceptual framework, as well as to develop measuring tools to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation and evidence-based improvement of the rehabilitation system.
