Analysis of the Russian immigration from the Far East to Brisbane between 1909–1915 according to data from the Queensland State Archives (QSA), Australia
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article analyzes digitized records of the Russian immigrants who arrived in Brisbane in the period 1909–1915 from the Far East. It is concluded that it was a short-term, mainly labor, male immigration and that its "revolutionary" nature is in the works of many Australian and Russian researchers is exaggerated. The First World War cut off the return route to their homeland, and the Russian government’s ban on leaving the country in wartime as well as the danger of sea transportation led to the fact that by March 1915 the exodus from the Far East stopped.
