"TSAR'S" CINEMA – REPRESENTATION OF AUTHORITY AND "HOME VIDEO"
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article examines cinema as a means of representing the Russian monarchy. The authors pay attention to two sides of the relationship between Nicholas II and cinema: the filming of the monarch, which made up a signifi- cant part of Russian documentary cinema, and the film shows organized for him. The history of the emergence of the "royal chronicle", its themes, the personalities of the operators and the place it occupied in the life of the royal court and Russian film distribution are examined. The authors highlight the role of film screenings in the royal family, the attitude of Nicholas II to cinema as a viewer and as a statesman.
