Problems of nomadic herders in the face of increasingly frequent weather conditions (Part 1)

Abstract:
The presented analysis of the problems and challenges faced by modern nomadic pastoralists is based on cartographic, statistical methods, the results of sociological research conducted in Mongolia by surveying nomadic households and interviewing experts. Natural (height and area of snow cover, low temperatures) and anthropogenic influence factors (changes in the structure of the herd, overgrazing of livestock) on the consequences of dzud are considered. Based on the results obtained, the authors developed proposals for government support measures and adaptive strategies for the conservation and development of nomadic cattle breeding. To improve pasture management, it was concluded that it is necessary to develop a sustainable pasture yield policy based on pasture carrying capacity.
